…live on KEXP.
Another great place on YouTube for always finding new music.
Tinariwen hail from North Africa. Northern Mali, to be specific. They are members of the Tuareg people, nomads from the Saharan region.
Their sound is truly their own, combining as it does elements from the many musical styles and cultures which their nomadic lifestyle has brushed up against, including Malian guitar sounds reminiscent of Ali Farka Toure’s adaptations of American blues stylings, North African and West African percussion, traditional Arabic music and European and American pop, soul, and funk.
Enjoy, and have a groovy day…
Good stuff…I think they said something about not traditional, not modern, just natural. And that’s why it works, maybe, it’s the mix that’s natural to them. Smooth!

Yes. I love when the natural comes through, in whatever form it finds in the moment.
