time does not really exist

"The words are already fixed in the storehouse of the memory."
                                         --Robert Graves

the poem exists
before the poem is written

a small shard of gravity
pulls from the world
to its center

wisps of passed
and passing things
and non-things
as they pass

throws off words and
spins the written poem

  1. JCC,
    Beautifully written and exactly thus.

I would add that there are distinct personalities and voices and movements involved in the spinning. I find myself writing words in a poem I don’t know or use. Then I have to go look them up to see what “I” said.

I’m glad to see your shard of gravity at work. 🙂
