Witty-schism, 2/22/14 — getting carried away

My mind's continuing verbal wars with itself.

“Getting carried away is what it’s all about. The story is a story about getting carried away by the story, but who’s getting carried, and who’s doing the carrying?”

  1. Easy. It’s the mobius strip of how stories work. The reader carries the details/words of the story while getting carried away by the details/words. That’s why it’s critical for the writer to choose the correct details/words. If it’s not done well, neither the carrying nor the carried-awaying happens. The correct details are the catalyst for the reaction. And of course, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, right?
