Phriday Photos: Jellies
From Spring 2012, Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.
I know the “Jellies” exhibit was extended through 2013. Not sure if it’s still there but if it is, do NOT miss the opportunity to go if you can. A Marine Wonderland. Especially for photographers.
These images were all taken with the Original Lensbaby. No image manipulation other than exposure, contrast and cropping. It’s all the lens.

Mystical, alluring, the colours are amazing – whose a clever boy then?
I have my moments.
You know. The Blind Squirrel theory.
erm no?
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.
🙂
Oh dear..I shouldn’t have asked lol
Mesmerizing.
Thanks T–They are for sure. I’d love to see them again, with a little more preparation this time.
Outstanding! It takes a great deal of skill to wrangle that original lensbaby, and also to take shots of jellyfish in my experience – so I am just imagining the skills required to do both at once!
Thanks Much Tim–
To be fair, the jellies were rather a captive audience of models. Trapped in small aquariums and beautifully lit. They are fantastic subjects.
Where the Lensbabies are concerned, I subscribe to the “Blind Squirrel” school of Photography. You know, “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.”
Shootshootshootshoot. The fingers eventually learn what to do on their own via muscle memory but still, I usually have my shutter set on auto-advance. Kind of cheating I guess, but it works for me.
Thanks so much for your words and for stopping by–
